Into The Blue

Lena Headey is definitely game for anything, not least standing fully clothed waist-deep in Majorca’s coastal waters, all in the name of fashion. “I got so cold”, she says cheerily, “but I thought, when I’m 82, I’ll show the pictures to the grandkids. Vanity kept me warm!”
For the Bermuda-born, London-based actress, standing on a cliff in high heels is nothing. During her 15-year career, she has had much more demanding roles than this – from dominatrix (in the TV series Band Of Gold) to lesbian love interest (in her most recent film Imagine Me & You). About to start work on The Shooter, an action movie with Wesley Snipes, she says she’s ready for the big time. “I’ve been called up-and-coming since I was 17,” she jokes. “I’m 32 now and I want a new label!”
That said, Headey’s refreshingly down-to-earth for a star in the ascendant. She worries about not fitting into the clothes for today’s shoot, confessing that she hasn’t been to the gym for “a while”. She eschews high-profile events and clubbing in favour of “drinking coctails and having gossip with friends – I don’t belive in turning up to things for the sake of it”.
She also of course, likes to stay in with her tall, blond fiancĂ© Pete, who’s here on the shoot, too. They met at a friend’s wedding and are set to tie the knot themselves this September, but she’s reluctant to spill any more beans. “It’s very exciting, but just for me and him, family and mates,” she says coyly.
So with the big day looming, does she feel stressed? “Ha, no. We’re both so disorganised – we’ve only just started making lists,” she says breezily and changes the subject to a holiday in Ibiza she’s planning. Clearly, not much fazes this girl.
Imagine Me & You is out now.
